Funeral services for Mr. Elliott Budden Carrier, 93, will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2008, at Midway Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard "Skip" Palmer and the Rev. Charles Woolley officiating. Interment will follow at Cotton Valley Cemetery under the direction of Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.

Visitation will be held from 5 until 8 p.m., today, September 22 at Bailey Mortuary, Springhill.

Mr. Carrier, a resident of this area for 55 years, passed away Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, in Springhill.

He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Cotton Valley; a veteran of World War II serving in the US Army in the Company K 29th Infantry where he received two Purple Hearts. He was employed with International Paper Company for 36 years.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Jeannette Juneau Carrier in 1997; his parents, Joseph Matthew Carrier, Sr. and Bertha Josephine Budden Carrier; three sisters; and two brothers.

He is survived by his wife, Ruth Hymer Carrier of Sarepta; daughters, Jolie C. Razinsky and husband Don, of Keithville; Oudia C. Engle and husband Glen, of Sarepta; Charleen C. Pugh and husband John, of Carrolton, Texas; step-daughter, Betty Juckett of Sarepta; six grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; sisters, Hazel Fowler of Shreveport and Joyce Green of Memphis, Tenn; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Don Razinsky, John Pugh, Glen Engle, Ronnie Barnett, Joe Beaty and Howard Beaty.
