Luke DALTON, Sr. was born in IRELAND abt 1790-1800. He married Catherine Hannigan in 1814. They had three children in 25 years. He and his family immigrated in 1849 from County Waterford traveling several months at sea in the small ship named Elsinore to escape the Great Famine of that time in Ireland. Catherine died upon arrival in the USA and was probably buried in New York City's potters field. Luke died on December 28, 1880, in Yonkers, New York, at the impressive age of 90, and buried in St Mary's Cemetery.
