Ruth E. Zercher, 61, supervisor of nurses at Community Hospital of Lancaster, died Sunday at the hospital after an illness of several months. She resided at 825 Ocean Ave. and was the wife of the late Kenneth C. Zercher Sr. Mrs. Zercher had been employed at Community Hospital the last 18 years. A 1943 graduate of McCaskey High School, she graduated in 1946 from Lancaster General Hospital School of Nursing. She was a member of the Lancaster General Hospital Alumni Association and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Born in Lancaster, she was the daughter of Martha Fry Thomas, Lancaster, and the late Martin R. Thomas. Surviving besides her mother and four children: Kenneth C. Jr., Randall L., and Barbara A., wife of Lawrence Hawkey, all of Lancaster; and Linda L., wife of Jere J. Commero, Willow Street; five grandchildren; two brothers, Kenneth G. Thomas, Morrison, Colo., and Sidney W. Thomas, Margate, Fla.; and a sister, Roberts L. Brandt, Lancaster.
