Peter Timm, his wife Johanna-Caroline and their seven children came from Wisconsin (vicinity of Watertown) to Lyons Creek (Dickinson Co) Kansas via ox drawn wagon in July of 1859. The trip took six weeks. With them came Herman & Albertina (Timm) Oesterreich (their daughter), Charles F. Bremer & wife, Ed Bruntock and a Mr. Mermann. Peter Timm took a claim between the farms of Charles & Fred Staatz, 5 miles north of the present town of Woodbine. Three more children were born in Kansas after the family settled on Lyons Creek.
