Bill lived most of his 85 years in the Yakima Valley. He was known by all as a hardworking man of integrity. As a young man and even after retiring from the Benton County Road Department, Bill worked the land he loved as a farm laborer, farmer and grape grower. In retirement he began the hobby of woodworking. He also enjoyed fishing, camping and gardening and was very proud of his successful propagation of heritage tomatoes from Missouri. Bill was dedicated to Bible study and prayer, aspiring to live his life as an example. Bill Bender and his wife, Margaret where very devoted to family and together raised five children. They were never happier than when surrounded by their family and friends. His beloved, Margaret went to be with the Lord on December 1, 1995. Bill's wry wit and teasing grin let each family member know how special they were in the eyes of their father, grandfather and great grandfather.
