Retired Merchant Succumbs

Joseph (Joe) Morris, 77, retired merchant, died early this morning in a Durham hospital.

The son of the late Martin Morris and Deliah Mae Morrie, he was born in Lee county and had lived all of his life in this section.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at Blacks Memorial Chapel Church at 4 p.m., with the Rev. Jack Dail, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The body will remain at Miller Funeral home until carried to the church an hour before the services.

Surviving are his wife; six sons, James Morris of Pineview, Leland, Neil and Jesse Morris of Cameron, Carl Morris of Sanford, J.D. Morris of Cameron; two daughters, Mrs. Rudolph Thomas and Mrs. George Collins of Sanford; three sisters, Mrs. James McCormick, Miss Lottie Morris and Mrs. Luther Layton of Route 6 Sanford; one brother, Dannie Morris of Route 6 Sanford.
