John D. Dierks, 62, died at 8 o'clock this morning in his home, 232 Second avenue, South, following a lingering illness. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday afternoon in the home. The Rev. George W. Krueger, pastor of Zion Lutheran church will officiate. Burial will be in Clinton Memorial park. Mr. Dierks was born April 23, 1874, in Hampshire township, the son of Margaret and Detlef Dierks. He received his early education in St. John's Lutheran church and was baptised and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. On Feb. 10, 1897, he was united in marrage to Miss Lena Kruse, who preceded him in death Jan. 27, 1932.
He is survived by four sons, Detlef, Arnold, Clarence and John Dierks, of this city, two daughters, Mrs. Charles Rogge, Ida Grove, and Mrs. Herbert Sinhold, at home. One sister, Mrs. Gus Ladehoff Sr., and a brother Hans J. Dierks, of this city, and twelve grandchildren, also survive. A son, Donald, a brother Herman Dierks, and a sister, Mrs. Henry Pahl, all of this city, preceded him in death.
