Esther I. Runk
HANOVER – Esther I. Runk, 84, of The Robinson Home in New Oxford, who formerly lived at the home of her daughter, Nancy Meckley of Hanover RD 1, died Friday, October 21, 1988, at Hanover General Hospital.
Born July 17, 1904, in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late Curvin R. and Cora M. (Shaffer) Eckert. She was the wife of the late Ralph O. Runk who died in 1973.
Mrs. Runk was a member of Grace United Church of Christ in Hanover and had been employed as a stitcher for Sylvania Shoe Company in McSherrystown before retiring in 1969.
Surviving are four daughters, Pauline Kerlin of Camp Hill, Betty Shelleman of Mechanicsburg, Doris Horn of Springville, N.Y., and Nancy Meckley of Hanover; a son, Richard Runk of Hanover; 11 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mabel Powers of Souderton.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Grace United Church of Christ, 100 Fourth St., Hanover, with her pastor, the Rev. Bruce Bouchard, officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery in Hanover. Viewing will be this evening at Wetzel Funeral Home, 549 Carlisle St., Hanover, and from 9 to 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
