The hearts of those who knew and loved Denise Lynn Mackenzie are full as people of Clearwater mourn her passing. The seven year old (she would have been eight this Saturday), younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wes Mackenzie was fatally injured on Monday, September 11, (1967) when one of the family horses kicked her.
Clearwater RCMP rushed her to Royal Inland Hospital at Kamloops where she died shortly after admission.
Denise is survived by her parents Mr. and Mrs. Wes Mackenzie, brothers Brian and Spencer, and one sister Janet all at home. Also her grandparents, Mrs. Martha Haenschke of Kelowna and Mr. and Mrs. D. G. (Ted) Mackenzie of Clearwater.
Teachers and pupils of Dutch Lake School where Denise had begun her third year, find it difficult to believe they will not see her each morning. Denise had never missed a day of school in her two years of attendance.
