Marie was born in Glit, Bukovina. She immigrated to Saskatchewan, Canada in 1913 to stay with her sister Mrs. John Schmidt. On July 20, 1914 she married Joseph Oschefski who was also from Bukovina. They had not known each other in Bukovina but met each other in Saskatchewan. Joseph had immigrated to Canada in 1910. Together their children were, Emma, Phil, Josephine, Grace, Nick and Arnold.
Marie would eventually leave Saskatchewan and settle in Orillia, Ontario followed by some of her children. She was a devout Catholic and an excellent cook, known well for her strudel and breads.
