He was born Aug. 19, 1918, in Farmer City, the son of August and Bertha Mader.
Surviving are his wife, the former Elenore Schloendorf, whom he married in 1969, in Kankakee; two sons, Richard Lindhorst of Bourbonnais and fiancee, Carol Patton, John and Cindy Schloendorf of Bolingbrook; one daughter, Sally Kutemeier of Kankakee; one sister, Ellen Houtzel of Caldwell, Idaho; nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; one niece and one nephew.
Deceased is one sister, Elsa Mader.
Mr. Mader had worked as a clerk on the railroad and retired from Manteno State Hospital in 1981.
He loved trains.
