It is said that Fannie was walking by a wood burning stove with a child in her arms when her full skirt was caught on fire. The baby was pulled from her but they were unable to save her from the injuries that were caused as she succumbed to her burns. Fannie Vincent McKimmey is buried with her parents in Camden, Arkansas. She and M.E. McKimmey had only been married a few months when she died. The marriage had taken place August 24, 1911.
