Deceased Name: Caroline Isaak

GOLDEN VALLEY -- Caroline Isaak, 89, Golden Valley, died March 2, 1999, in her home. Services will be held at 10 a.m. MST Saturday at Golgotha Lutheran Church, Golden Valley, with the Rev. Walt Wolff officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Ronald, Michael and Jerald Isaak, Michael, Gene and Ken Jassmann and Jerel Helling.

Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. today at Seibel Funeral Home, Beulah.

Caroline was born a daughter of John and Justina (Weger) Jassmann, on July 18, 1909, in Bessarabia, near the Black Sea. She came to the United States with her parents, three brothers and a sister in 1914. The family settled in the Golden Valley area. Caroline was confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church. On June 24, 1934, she married Gotthilf C. Isaak Jr., at Golgatha Lutheran Church. They lived in Golden Valley and operated a hardware store for a time and then Isaak Mercantile. After Gotthilf's death on Dec. 3, 1953, Caroline, with her brother, Ervin Jassmann, operated Isaak Mercantile (Isaak and Jassmann Super Valu), until her retirement in 1976. Caroline was a devoted member of her church. She was an active member of the Golgotha Lutheran Ladies Aid and a charter member of the Golden Valley Women's Club, and served as an officer in both organizations. She enjoyed her family, her home, the store, cooking, entertaining, gardening and needlework. Caroline was noted for her caramel rolls, kuchen, strudla and rhubarb chiffon pie.

She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, G. Eugene and Liz Isaak, Tucson, Ariz.; one daughter and son-in-law, Darlene and Robert Smith, Tucson; three grandchildren, Cheryl Isaak, Denver, Jason Isaak and his wife, Beth, Phoenix, and Melissa Isaak, Tucson; three brothers, Gottlieb Jassmann, Reinhold and Marie Jassmann, and Ervin and Delma Jassmann, all of Golden Valley; one sister, Pauline Sasse, a resident of the Knife River Care Center, Beulah; five sisters-in-law, Hertha Treude and Ida Jassmann, both of Spokane, Wash., Hulda Weigum, Golden Valley, Lorene and Roland Wagner, Bismarck, and Lorraine Raszler, Dickinson; and many nieces and nephews.

Caroline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; four brothers and two sisters.

In lieu of flowers, the the family prefers memorials to Golgotha Lutheran Church, Golden Valley.
