Born Feb. 9, 1906, at Battle Lake, she was the daughter of Roy and Rose Corliss. After graduating from Fergus Falls High School in 1924, she attended Moorhead State College and taught rural schools in Otter Tail County for 28 years. In May of 1938 she was married to Charles Rian of Elizabeth. For several years they operated a general store at Guthrie, returning to Fergus Falls in 1944. Mr. Rian was engaged in farming until his death in 1944. In March of 1954, Mrs. Rian became a librarian at the Fergus Falls State Hospital, retiring in March 1973.
She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, St. Theresa Mission Circle and the Catholic Guild.
Surviving are two sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Marion Merz of Route 2, Jennie Corliss, Donald and George
Corliss, all of Fergus Falls.
