Obituary--Gruenenfelder
The funeral of Mrs. J. A. Gruenenfelder, whose death in the Hospital at St. Louis was announced in our issue of last week, was held at St. Paul's Church in Highland Thursday afternoon. Rev. Ant. Jaschke officiating, and was attended by an uonusually large number of frineds who had come to regard the deceased very highly. Interment was made in the Catholic cemetery.
The pall bearers were Michael and Edward Matter, Otto and Herman Klaus and David and Barney Trautuer.
The funeral sermon was preached by Rev. Ant. M. Jaschke of Grantfork and Rev. J.A. Gramke of Highland read Requiem Mass on Friday morning.
Mrs. Gruenenfelder had been in ill health for quite a long time from a chronic nephritie difficulty and two weeks ago was deemed to bad that removal to a hospital was thought necessary. There the end came at 9:30 Monday evening. On Tuesday evening the remains were brought to Highland and taken to the home of C. J. Hug, a son-in-law. Elizabeth Knebel was born in Saline township on April 16, 1860, being at the time of her death 53 years, 8 months and 26 days old. On January 21, 1879, she was married to Joseph A. Gruenmenfelder, and the couple began their married life on a farm. To their union were born ten children, who all survive with the exception of two daughters. They are Oscar, Arthur, Elmer, Erwin, Clarence, Raymond, Harold and Mrs. C. J. Hug. She also leaves three brothers, John, Philip and Anton Knebel and one sister, Mrs. Philip Hartlieb and two grandchildren, Leslie and Gladys Hug of this city
