Roger W. Schenk, of Wellington, Ks, a retired Burlington Northern Santa Fe special agent, died Monday, April 22, 2002. Born the son of Fred & Wilma Schenk on Jan. 11, 1944 in Joplin, Missouri. Roger was an avid golfer & was a member of the Wellington Golf Assoc. He followed in his fathers foot steps by making a hole in one at the golf course. He enjoyed fishing & spending time with his family & friends. He is survived by companion, Kathie Harper of Wichita, Ks; daughters Tracy Lara and her husband Richard of Wellington, Ks; Courtney Penninger and her husband Matt of Wellington, Ks; Grandchildren, R.J. Lara, Andres Lara, Kennedee Lara and Kileigh Penninger all of Wellington, Ks; brother, Don Schenk and his wife Mary of Joplin, Mo & longtime friends Kay Schenk & Jessie Cornejo of Wellington, KS; along with many other friends in Texas. Full military honors & committal services were held at Prairie Lawn Cemetary in Wellington, KS. Cremation was the choice of buriel. A memorial has been established in his name and loving memory with the Wellington Golf Assoc. 1110 W. 4th St, Wellington, Ks. 67152. Roger was a very caring, loving and special person to each & everyone that was lucky to have been blessed by knowing him. We truly lost a dear friend on April 22, but he will remain with us in our hearts, minds and memories forever.
