Bertha Thoele, 95, of Teutopolis, died at 9:10 am Sunday, September 29, 1996, at Lakeland Health Care Center, Effingham. Funeral services will be 10:30 am Tuesday at St Francis' Catholic Church, Teutopolis, with burial in the Church Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 pm today at the Church, with a 4:30 pm CCW rosary and a 7 pm parish wake. Bauer Funeral Home, Teutopolis, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
Mrs Thoele was born June 24, 1901 the daughter of Joseph and Elizabeth (Repking) Westendorf. She married Allie H. Thoele in 1923. He died in 1972. She was a member of St Francis Catholic Church, Teutopolis, and St Francis Council of Catholic Women.
Survivors include her sons, Bob of Teutopolis, Tom of Mattoon; Daughters, Mrs Leo (Betty) Buenker and Mrs Art (Rosie) Brumleve, both of Teutopolis, Mrs Don (Patsy) Siddens of Mason; brothers, Charles Westendorf of Chicago Heights, Nick Westendorf of Raleigh NC, Adolph Westendorf of Teutopolis; sisters, Ruby Alexander of Chicago, Ellen Lustig of Chicago Heights; 25 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son and three brothers.
