Johann war born circa 1813 in Strzelce Opolski area of old Poland, know as Silesia, and was a "hausler" or cottager, a farmworker who owned a cottage. He maried Margaretha Gabor 28 June 1840 at Sw. Floriana (St. Florian) in Kalinowice, then moved to Zakrzow.
The couple and their children traveled to Texas arriving 3 June 1855, Port of Galveston on the Weser. He died shortly thereafter, the exact date and location is unknown. His widow, Margaret, married another Polander, John Kindla, about 1858.
