Mrs. John Harpenau

Mrs. John Harpenau, 69, Le Mars, died May 20, 1975 at her residence after a brief illness.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Catholic church in Le Mars. Rev. Msgr. Dean Walker will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary cemetery in Le Mars under direction of the Luedtke funeral home of Le Mars.

The Christian Mothers Rosary was recited at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. The parish rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Wednesday.

Mrs. Harpenau, the former Philomena Langel, was born Aug. 29, 1905, in Le Mars. She was married April 17, 1929, in Le Mars.

Survivors are her husband; six sons, LeRoy, Le Mars, Robert and William, both of Remsen, Donald, Diamond Bar, Calif., Raymond, Oyens and Thomas, Alton; four daughters, Mrs. Chester (Doris) Bergner, Lancaster, Calif., Mrs. Gerald (Vernell) Chapman, Le Mars, Mrs. Richard (Marjorie) Ferrichs, Remsen and Mrs. Paul (Helen) Galles, Ireton; a brother, Leo Langel, Le Mars; a sister, Mrs. Ben Schraad, Adrian, Minn.; and 42 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Frank, Theodore and Joseph and by four sisters, Mrs. Rose Rolfes, Mrs. Anna Ortmann and Mrs. Mary Ortmann and Theila (sic/Thecla) Langel.
