Ella Doris Fenske, 98, of Rice Lake, WI, died Thursday, January 20, 2011, at Rice Lake Convalescent Center.
She was born March 11, 1912 in Irvington, IA, to John and Ida (Hocamp) Grafing. She was married in Turtle Lake on August 10, 1932, to William Fenske and they farmed for many years west of Turtle Lake before moving to Rice Lake. Ella both helped on the farm and was an exceptional homemaker. Ella enjoyed Bingo, playing cards, crossword puzzles, traveling and dining out. She made delicious fried chicken and pies, but most of all loved her time spent with family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William, on January 2, 1974; sisters, Pearl Hoffman, Mae Thomas and Helen Neuenfeldt; and brothers, William, John and Howard Grafing; son-in-law, Gordon Cimfl; and daughter-in-law, Shirley Fenske; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Cimfl and Florence (Clarence) Strand of Rice Lake; two sons, Harlan Fenske of Rice Lake and Raymond (Rosemary) Fenske of Eau Claire, WI; 19 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; her sister, Eva Heppner of Almena, WI.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 24, 2011, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Rice Lake with the Rev. Karen Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Nora Cemetery. Pallbearers are her grandsons, James Strand, David Cimfl, Wayne Fenske, Alan Fenske, Ron Fenske and Randy Fenske.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service Monday at the church.
Skinner Funeral Home of Rice Lake is serving the family.
