Mrs. Scheiter was born in Baltimore, Md. Sept. 3, 1864. Her maiden name was Clara C. Keyl. She was a daughter of Rev. and Mrs. William Keyl. The family moved to Monroe. Mich., when she was a little girl. Later she was engaged in kindergarten work in New Orleans and for a number of years was in the dry goods business in New York with her brother, G. C. Keyl.
For the last twenty years she had resided in Decatur. She and Max R. Scheiter were married here Aug. 21, 1900. She was a member of St. Johannes Lutheran church during all the years of her residence in Decatur. She took an active interest in the work of the church and was held in high esteem by all who knew her. She was an accomplished musician.
Besides her husband, Mrs. Scheiter is survived by one son, Edwin K. Scheiter. She also leaves two brothers, E. D. Keyl, and G. C. Keyland four sisters, Mrs. Mary Koerner and Mrs. C. A. Germann of Brooklyn, N. Y., Mrs. G. A. Germann of Utica, N. Y., and Mrs. P. F. Germann of Decatur.
The body was removed to the Moran undertaking establishment and prepared for burial. The funeral probably will be held at St. Johannes church some time Thursday.
