Edward V. VanDykhorst of Estelline, died Jan 20, 2011 at a Sioux Falls hospital, Minnehaha Co, SD.
Burial will be at Hamlin Reformed Cemetery, rural Castlewood.
He was born June 12, 1939 in Estelline, Hamlin Co, SD the son of Evert and Johannah (DeWall) VanDykhorst. He received his education in Hamlin County.
He married Judy Mennenga on Dec 5, 1962 in Dempster. After their marriage they farmed near Dempster until his retirement in 1989.
He was a member of the Hamlin Reformed Church. He enjoyed horses, welding, the Minnesota Twins and doing woodworking projects for family and his home healthcare friends. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, especially giving them horse drawn sleigh or wagon rides.
He was preceded in death by one son, Terry.
Survivors include his wife, Judy of Estelline; one daughter, Tammy Gilligan and her husband, Robert, of Estelline; one stepgranddaughter; three stepgreat-grandsons; one sister, Dolores Jongeling of Estelline; one brother, John VanDykhorst and his wife Lillian of Watertown; his mother-in-law, Annie Mennenga of Estelline; and his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ed Saathoff of Estelline, LaVerne and Linda Mennenga, Roger and Marilyn Greenfield, Bill and Bonnie Henrichsen, all of Castlewood, Dale and Tonya Mennenga of Westfield, WI, and LouAnn Dahl and her friend Dave Jensen of Brookings.
