Henry George Kirchner, 70, a resident of Keokuk for the past 23 years and a lifelong resident of Lee county, died at 11:30 o'clock on Saturday night at Graham hospital where he had been a patient for the past three weeks. He had been in failing health for several months.

A son of George and Katherine Spiesz Kirchner, he was born on July 21, 1872, near Donnellson. He was married at Donnellson on November 18, 1896, to Martha L. Bentzinger, who survives.

During the early part of his life Mr. Kirchner was engaged in farming, till he moved with his family to Keokuk in 1919. Since then he had followed the carpenters' trade and was employed at the Hubinger company plant for about 15 years until he retired about two years ago,

Surviving are four sons, Alfred G. and Edwin W. both of Keokuk; Oliver F., of Carthage Ill., and Pvt. Herbert H. Kirchner, stationed with the U. S. Army at Laredo, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Anita L. Raley of Ogden, Utah, and Mrs. Gladys V. Fry, Ames; nine grandchildren and one great grandchild; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Bentzinger and Mrs. Lena Bentzinger, both of Donnellson, Mrs. Elizabeth Neuman of Kahoka, Mr. and Mrs. Katherine Bentzinger of Cedar Rapids, and one brother, Charles H. Kirchner of Donnellson.
