Jefferson City Post Tribune (MO) – Page 1 – September 18, 1944:
William H. Nilges, 68, died early this morning at St. Mary's Hospital following a stroke which he suffered last Monday. He had been in ill health for the past four years.
Nilges was a life-long resident of Linn and was a retired farmer. He recently moved to Jefferson City to make his home with his daughter, Mrs. Joe Knollmeyer of Bald Hill Road.
Besides his wife, Mrs. Elizabeth Nilges, and Mrs. Knollmeyer, he is survived by seven other children, Angela and Jerene of Chicago, Clem and Clara of St. Louis, Alma of Rockport and two sons in the U.S. Army, Theodore now stationed at Fr. McClellan, Ala., and Lawrence of Camp Reynolds, Pa. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers.
The body will lie in state at Morton's Funeral Home at Linn. Funeral services are expected to be held Wednesday at St. George's Church in Linn.
