Born Dec. 30, 1895, in Mandal, Norway, he was the son of John and Olivia Gabalson Carlsen.
A veteran of World War I, he was a member of the Mamakating Post of the American Legion.
He is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Camilla Seyfried of Brooklyn, Mrs. Olive Liekeset of Orlando, Fla., and Mrs. Thelma Bathgate of Levittown, L.I.; two brothers, John of Franklin Square, L.I., and Leis of Woodside.
Funeral services were held Tuesday in the Van Inwegen Funeral Home, Wurtsboro, with the Rev. Jan Van Arsdale officiating. Burial was in the Sylvan Cemetery, Wurtsboro.
