Both parents died during Jan. and Feb. 1895, respectively, when Anna was only 15, leaving her with six younger children including a newborn infant, Agnes. Martin willed his farm to Anna with the understanding that she would keep the family together and raise them.
Anna married Joseph Albrecht Rutz about Nov. 1, 1895, and they raised the Wielinski children, except for the infant. In addition, Anna and Joseph had ten children of their own. The infant, Agnes, was adopted by neighbors, John and Mary Zioltkowski, who had just lost an infant of their own and had milk for Agnes.
