Carolyn Auguste Werth was born Sept 16, 1889 near Holstein, Nebr., to Fred and Alvina (Jacobitz) Berndt.
She departed this life May 13, 1986 at the Long Term Care of the Kearney County Community Hospital at the age of 96 years, seven months and twenty-seven days.
She was baptized at the Wanda Lutheran Church near Holstein, Nebr. She with her family, moved to Minden Nebr in 1903. She was confirmed at St Paul Lutheran Church of Minden on April 5, 1903.
As a young woman she worked as a clerk of the Clearman Department Store.
On Jan 21, 1914, Carolyn was united in marriage to John H Werth. They lived on a farm east of Minden. To this union was born three children. Her husband passed away, Dec 4, 1946. She moved into Minden, residing there until her death. She was active in community and church work and a faithful member of the St Paul Ladies Aid. She enjoyed singing, quilting and flower gardening. She worked at Bethany Home, helped with the school lunch program and did baby sitting for many families.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, August Berndt; three sisters, Hattie Braun, Lydia Alsid, and Frieda Bang; her husband, John; her son, John F; two grandsons, Bruce Jorgenson and Boyd Felzien.
She is survived by two daughters, Rosamond Jorgensen and husband Nels; Winifred Felzien and husband Kermit, all of Minden; daughter-in-law, Eddie Werth of Long Beach, Calif.; six grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Helen Larsen of Minden and Evelyn Otteson and husband Fred of San Juan Capistrano, Calif.; two sisters-in-law, Lydia Werth of Lincoln, Nebr and Hazel Werth of Minden and many nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was a devoted mother, grandmother and great grandmother whose memory will be cherished.
