"...Carl Adam was from Germany. His first wife was Mary E Adam. They had no children and adopted a boy and girl around 1900. The girl was my grandmother. They raised her as Winifred Adam. She was born Grace Clark. Ella was his second wife. My grandmother was ill with cancer and died in 1941. The family is together in the 1910 census."
