On Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, Hazel (Raby) Mogensen, with family by her side, passed from this world into the loving care of our heavenly Father.

Hazel was born on Jan. 12, 1920 to Samuel Jackson (S.J.) Raby and Pansy Louisa (Allen) Raby at their home southeast of Payette, ID. Hazel was one of six children. Hazel was a 1938 graduate of Payette High School where she competed in athletics, and was a talented musician and member of the orchestra as a violinist.

On Oct. 20, 1940 Hazel married Mark G. Mogensen. She and Mark made their home for the entire 65 years of their marriage on their farm southeast of Payette. Mom was a 4-H clothing leader for 16 years. She was a long time member of the Rebekah's Lodge obtaining a 50 year pin. She also served as Noble Grande of the Payette Harmony Rebekah Lodge #22. She worked for many years in the fruit packing sheds during the annual fruit harvest.

Hazel was an amazing seamstress, a great cook, a talented musician and painter, a gardener of encyclopedic knowledge and capability, a loving wife, mother, friend, grandma, and sister. She loved tending her roses, puttering in her flower beds and the color pink. Mom and Dad taught us the benefits of hard work, and always encouraged us to do our best at whatever we chose to do.

Hazel was preceded in death by her husband, Mark G. Mogensen, of Payette, her parents Samuel Jackson (S.J.) and Pansy (Allen) Raby, of Payette, her brother, Sammy J. Raby, of Price, UT, and her sister, Pearl Gallego, of Redding, CA.

Hazel is survived by her four children; son Monty (Merlyn) Mogensen of Emmett, ID and their sons, Allen (Joy) Mogensen of Missoula, MT and Mark Mogensen, of Denver, CO; daughter, Linda (Steve) Jannsen, of Buckley, WA and their daughters, Stephanie Jannsen, of Buckley, WA and Venessa (Marc) Koehn, of Buckley, WA; son Mike (Kris) Mogensen, of Meridian, ID, their daughters, Angie (Chris) O'Hara, of Meridian, ID and Molly (Shaun) Devine, of Meridian, ID and their son, Tyler (Shelly) Mogensen, of Kuna, ID; and daughter, Jodie Mogensen of Nampa, ID.
