Ray Hadley Thompson, son of Elmer and Nora Thompson was born on February 17, 1913 in Miller County, Mo. and passed away on September 2, 1975 at the age of 62 years, 5 months, 15 days.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post No. 6167 in Iberia, Mo. He served in World War II, enlisting in the army in 1940 and serving until 1944. He served during World War II with the Third Division of the U.S. Army participating in the invasions with General Patton and receiving decorations of the Purple Heart, Oak Leaf Cluster, Bronze Star and others. He was wounded at Anzio Beach Head and was discharged December 1, 1944.

Ray worked for the Tret-Lite Chemical Co. in Webster Groves, Mo. for several years. For the past 13 years he has worked for Links Landing where he was working at the time of his death.

Surviving relatives are his brother, Cyril of McLeansboro, Ill.; four sisters, Alice Meredith of Kirkwood, Mo., Gladys Nelson of Lakeland, Fla., Aileen Colvin of Lakeland, Fla. and Dorothy DeGraffenreid of Lebanon, Mo.; three nieces; three nephews; one great niece and many friends.

Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 4, 1975 at the Georgia Wade Chapel of Hedges Funeral Home in Camdenton, Missouri with Rev. Bill Gardner officiating. Interment was made in the Gott Cemetery near Brumley, Missouri. Pallbearers were J. R. DeGraffenreid, Basil Meredith, Buell Meredith, Lloyd DeGraffenreid, Jewell Meredith and Ralph Robinett. Funeral arrangements were under the direction of the Hedges Funeral Home of Camdenton, Missouri.
