The son of the late Heinriech Schnitzer and Elisabeth Groten Senkus, he was born May 29, 1926 in Düsseldorf, Germany.
He is survived by his wife, Ursula Schnitzer of Leesburg, Fla.; two sons, Michael Schnitzer and his wife, Kathy, of Wurtsboro and Ludi Schnitzer and his wife, Nicole, of Wurtsboro; two daughters, Edith Moore of Bullville and Joanne Mullen and her husband, Terry, of Wurtsboro; 11 grandchildren: Bianca, Alissa, Erin, Michael, Lisa, Christina, Tara, Terry, Lexi, Danielle and Kyle; and three great-grandchildren: Mahalla, Zoe and Shannon.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Elisabeth Steckroth Schnitzer.
Visitation will be held on Friday, September 15, from 7-9 p.m. at the VanInwegen-Kenny, Inc. Funeral Home, 111 Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, September 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, Sullivan Street in Wurtsboro. Fr. Peter Madori will officiate. Burial of his ashes will follow in the Sylvan Cemetery in Wurtsboro.
