He served in the 6th Regiment, Kansas Volunteers Calvary, Company H, Union Army. Highest rank was Quartermaster Sergeant. Enlistment date was January 7, 1862. Muster date was March 3, 1862. After receiving treatment at the US Army General Hospital at Fort Scott, he died at home of the wounds he received in a skirmish with Confederate guerrillas near Fidelity, Jasper County, Missouri.
