He served in the Civil War-Union from 2 Sep 1861 to 27 Sep 1864. He started as a Teamster & mustered out as an Officer Mess Cook. Rank-Private. He was with Co. F, 3rd Regiment Missouri Infantry. Michael's sister, Sabina (Hunn) Vogel, her memorial is at #47094402. Their father's name is Michael, but we still don't have their mother's name.

(1) Davenport Democrat and Leader, dated April 10, 1922. TEXT: "MICHAEL HUNN DIES FORMERLY OF MUSCATINE, Michael Hunn, until 3 and a half years ago a resident of Muscatine after he retired from farming passed away at 8:20 am on Sunday morning at the home of his son Phillip Hunn 2410 Farnum St. He has been ailing but two months. (P) He was born in Baden Baden Germany Oct. 23, 1841 and in early boyhood emigrated with his parents coming directly to St. Louis. At the age of 18 he enlisted with the Union forces in the Civil war and served three years and 3 months. (P) After he was mustered out he came to Muscatine where he married Mary Hahn who died on November 30, 1912. Mr. Hunn was a member of the G.A.R. post of Muscatine. (P) Survivng are one daughter, Mrs. William Nagal of Royalton, Minnesota. Two sons Phillip of Davenport and William of Muscatine, one sister Mrs. Sabina Vogel of St. Louis, 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. (P) Services under the auspecis of the August Wentz Post G.A.R. will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 pm at the home of his son Phillip in Davenport and the body will be Wednesday taken to Muscatine where services will be held at St. Mathias church at 9 o'clock. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Muscatine."
(2) Muscatine Journal dated April 12, 1922, Muscatine, IA:
TEXT: "Funeral Services for Michael Hunn, Civil War veteran and former Muscatine County resident who died Sunday morning at the home of his son Phillip Hunn of Davenport were held this morning from St. Mathias church. . . . . . . .............The G.A.R. had charge of the service conducted by the Meyers funeral home. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery. Six G.A.R. veterans were pall bearers.
