Dorothy M. Lagerlof, age 94, of Yankton, passed away Friday, March 4, 2011 at Avera Sister James Care Center, Yankton, SD. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Yankton, SD. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Yankton, SD. Visitations will begin at 5:00 PM, Monday, at the Opsahl-Kostel Funeral Home & Crematory, Yankton, with a rosary at 7:00 PM followed by a Scripture service at 7:30 PM. Pallbearers will be David Kuchinsky, Keevin Pinkleman, Matthew Lagerlof, Brice Pinkleman, Marquis Dortch, and Larry Backman.
Dorothy was born December 20, 1916 at Wynot, NE to Edward and Matilda (Reifenrath) Backman. She graduated from Cedar Catholic High School and married Glenn D. Lagerlof on October 18, 1941. She was best known for being an avid golfer, bridge player and lover of life. She was preceded in death by her husband and 7 siblings.
Dorothy is survived by one sister Madeline John of Sioux City, IA; daughter Janice Lagerlof (Allen Kuchinsky) of San Francisco, CA; son Dennis (Roxanne) Lagerlof of Sioux Falls, SD. Her four grandchildren; David & Anna Kuchinsky, and Matthew and Tina Lagerlof. Two great-grandchildren Marquis & Makayla Dortch.
