...Mary died at the Clarinda hospital. She lived at Colesburg, Iowa, where she was married to Frank Schupanitz January 5, 1859. They came to Carroll county, Iowa more than 30 years ago, residing here ever since.
Departed is survived by seven children, her aged husband dying May 10, 1908. The following children.... Math, who went west many years ago , and cannot now be located; Suzie, Mrs. John Gute, Breda, Iowa; Maggie, Mrs. Conrad Munteferring, Parkston, S.D.; John, at ...Clarinda;and Henry, Barbara - Mrs. George Schmitt, and Frank Schupanitz Jr. of this city. There also survives a brother, George Pletchette of Wiley, Iowa.
The funeral was conducted Friday forenoon from SS. Peter and Paul's church after Requiem High Mass and was largely attended by the friends of departed and her esteemed sons and daughters. They gathered to offer up their prayers, that she who had perhaps been found wanting in the perfection that we have been taught is required for admission to everlasting life, might be cleansed from her sins by the merits of the blood of the Redeemer Whom she sought faithfully to serve through life. We sympathize with the bereaved ones, but she whom they mourn no longer weeps. Her tears have given way to the joy of life eternal, while those who grieve for her cannot realize what she has gained - "the peace that passeth all understanding."
The 1900 U.S. census shows Mary had 10 children; 7 were living.
