Dennis B. Ende, 70, of 402 Fairhill Court, died in Holland Community Hospital Sunday evening, May 1, after an extended illness.
Ende retired from the Holland Police Departent as a detective sergeant in 1975. He had served his entire career with the local police department, starting as a patrolman.
Born in Hamilton, he moved to Holland as a child and attended Holland High School. He attended Trinity Reformed Church, and was a charter member of the Holland Fraternal Order of Police, a member of the Metropolitan Club, and a former deputy sheriff.
Surviving are his wife, Ruth; a son Dennis D. Ende of Holland; a daughter Mrs. Thomas (Donna) Wood of East Brunswick, N.J.; six grandchildren; a brother, Leon Ende of Holland; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Ethel Ende of Holland; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
Services are scheduled at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Dykstra Downtown Chapel with the Rev. Theodore Zandstra officiating. Burial will be in Pilgrim Home Cemetery.
Calling hours are Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Downtown Chapel.
