Fred Forkenbrock

A great concourse of people assembled at St. Mary's Catholic church at Alton last Friday morning to honor the memory of a beloved citizen, the late Fred H. Forkenbrock, many coming from long distances to attend the funeral services, the church being crowded.

Solemn high mass was held, with Rev. B. H. Forkenbrock of New Hampton, Ia., celebrant; Very Rev. M. A. Schemel of Alton, deacon; Rev. J. A. Gerlemann, Granville, subdeacon; Arnold Ahlers, Granville, master of ceremonies; and sermon preached by the Rt. Rev. Monsignor W. A. Pape, LeMars.

Pallbearers were friends and neighbors of the deceased -- Anton Schuver, Anton Gaul, Nick Buriage, Mke Hansen, Will Kellen and Peter Bindner.

Among the large number from out of the county who came to attend the last rites of one they held in high esteem were the following:
