Henry H. Forkenbrock Is Suddenly Summoned Saturday Evening

Was Native of Baden, Germany

Came to Dubuque County When But Fifteen Years Old and Lived Here Ever Since

Dyersville, Ia., May 29 -- Special: Henry Forkenbrock, a resident of Dubuque county since 1841, died at his home on West Main street in this city Saturday evening, about 6:30 o'clock, at the age of seventy-five years. Although a sufferer of heart trouble, he had been in very good health recently, being able to attend to business affairs. Death came without a moment's warning while he was walking from one room to another. Deceased was a native of Germany, having been born in West Baden, Muenster, on Dec. 16, 1841. He lived there until he was fifteen years of age, when he immigrated to this country with his parents, coming directly to this county, locating near New Vienna. He grew to manhood and engaged in farming in that vicinity.

He was united in marriage with Miss Mary M. Fangmann, who preceded him in death about eight years ago, in the Catholic church at New Vienna. In 1873, they came to Dyersville to live and Mr. Forkenbrock for many years was interested with the firm of Goerdt Bros., grain dealers.

He is survived by six sons and one daughter. They are Rev. Father B.H. Forkenbrock of New Hampton; Rev. Father H.H. Forkenbrock of Seymour, Wis.; Joseph, New Hampton; Frank, Adrian, Minn.; John, Three Forks, Mont.; Fred of Dyersville, Mary and Mrs. B. Thier of Lismore, Minn.

Henry Forkenbrock was one of the great men of this community, coming here in an early day. He endured the hardships of pioneer life in company with his faithful wife, whose death occurred several years ago.

He was a devout member of the Catholic faith and live strictly in accordance with its teachings.

The funeral will take place Wednesday morning at 9:30 from the home to St. Francis church and interment in the St. Francis cemetery, this city.
