Helen M. Ehlert, age 85, died Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at St. Michael's Nursing Home in Sauk Centre, Minnesota. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, August 6 at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Sauk Centre with Rev. Todd Schneider officiating. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Helen was born February 19, 1925 in Freeport, Minnesota to John and Elizabeth (Kerfeld) Borgerding. On October 3, 1944 she was united in marriage to Melvin G. Ehlert at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Freeport. Helen enjoyed quilting, sewing, playing cards, bowling league, cooking, canning, baking, and memory keeping. Helen was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Christian Mothers, St. Paul Catholic Aid Society, MCCL (MN Citizens Concerned for Life), Gradatim Club, Birthday Club, Quilting Groups, and Card groups. Helen was also a member and past-president of the St. Michael's Hospital Auxiliary, Paul F. Donart VFW Post 2853 Auxiliary, and the Sinclair Lewis Aerie 3847 of Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Melvin Ehlert of Sauk Centre; children, John (Kathe) Ehlert of Wayzata, Ruth (Al) Meyer of Coon Rapids, Lois (Rick) Prow of Prescott, Arizona, Dennis (Barb) Ehlert of Ham Lake, Daniel (Karen) Ehlert of Sauk Rapids, Mark (Diane) Ehlert of Sartell, Kathryn (Richard) Waller of Millinocket, Maine, Donald (Sandy) Ehlert of Apple Valley, Patricia (Bill) Ehlert-Abler of Arcata, California, Joyce (Curt) Sorenson of Sartell, and Bonnie (Frank) Pratt of Lincoln, Nebraska; 26 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Joy Ehlert of Arcata, California.

Helen was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Ehlert on November 15, 2002; parents; brothers and sisters, Cyril Borgerding, Marie Nienaber, Sister Francis Borgerding, OSB, Ambrose Borgerding, Robert Borgerding, Brother William (Jerome) Borgerding, OSB, Isadore Borgerding, Paul Borgerding, Louise Brix, and Roman Borgerding.

Serving as casket bearers will be Adam Ehlert, David Meyer, D. Robert Ehlert, Corey Ehlert, Derek Ehlert, and Nicholas Abler. Cross bearer will be Lucas Brue and scripture bearer will be Allison Huddleston.
