Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, for Ambrose Borgerding, 87, who died Tuesday, at St. Michael's Nursing Home, Sauk Centre. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.

Ambrose Borgerding was born in Oak Township, Stearns County, to John and Elizabeth (Kerfeld) Borgerding. He worked for several farmers in the Freeport area.

He married Teresa Holdvogt, on Feb. 19, 1941, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, New Munich. The couple farmed near Freeport until 1946, when they purchased a farm near Elrosa. His wife died on Nov. 13, 1969. He then.married Genevieve Hopfer Walz, on Nov. 23, 1974, at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church. The couple lived in Elrosa. He retired in 1978, but continued to be active on the farm, until the present.

He was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Queen of Peace General Assembly of 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, St. James Society of Catholic Aid, 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus, and was a church usher.

Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters: Judy Walz and Dave of Belgrade, Irene Crain of Maple Grove, Evelyn Stalboerger, Karen Breitbach and Joe of Elrosa, Susan Lieser of Plymouth, Mich., Kathy Imdieke of Sauk Centre, Norie DeSotel of Tulsa, Okla., Marcia Lieser of Fergus Falls, Marv of Padua, and Doris Woolcott of Sauk Rapids; stepchildren: Bob Walz of Elrosa, Duane Walz of Mayhew Lake, Roman Walz and Mary Mohs of Belgrade, and Diane Stavos and Ken Walz of St. Anna; sisters and brothers: Marie Nienaber of Freeport, Sister Francis, OSB, of St. Cloud, Louise Brix of Avon, Helen Ehlert and Paul of Sauk Centre, and Brother William, OSB, of Collegeville; 54 grandchildren; 14 stepgrandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; and step-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Mary; brothers: infant Cyril, Cyril, Robert, infant Isidore, and Roman; and one grandson.
