story page 202

Poor Mother was hurled out of the car and with the momentum plus the force of the wind, thrown acrross the ditch into a area covered with burning pine stumps near a dry creek bed. There she died a pitiful death suffering horribly as she burned to death. Father was unable to help, since it was impossible to walk in the fierce wind. He did manage to crawl back towards the house and managed to get into a culvert in the driveway, where he did survive, dispite the fact that he did suffer some burns on his body when his clothing ingited.
