Deceased Name: Alfred A. Krapf, Msgt U.S.A.F Ret.
GRAND MARSH, Wis. - Alfred A. Krapf, Msgt U.S.A.F Ret, 86, of Grand Marsh, Wis., died Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at Divine Savior Extended Care in Portage, Wis.
A visitation gathering will be from
11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Roseberry's Funeral Home, Friendship, Wis. Military honors will be offered at the funeral home by the Adams VFW Post 6279; the Adams American Legion Red Cloud Post 250; and the Grand Marsh American Legion Snyder-Richardson Post 273. A luncheon will follow at the Grand Marsh Community Center. Interment will be at a later date at the Fox Lake Cemetery, Fox Lake.
Alfred was born Jan. 2, 1922, in Iron Ridge, to John Jake and Agatha (Fink) Krapf. He enlisted in the Army in 1938 and served until 1945. Alfred married Betty Wood on Nov. 14, 1946, in Beaver Dam. Alfred then re-enlisted in the Air Force and served until 1962. He retired as a Msgt. Alfred then worked for the State of Wisconsin Division of Corrections until 1983 when he retired and moved to Adams County. Alfred enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, trapping, and planting trees. He also enjoyed woodworking. Alfred was a member of the American Legion Post of Fox Lake, and a life time member of the NRA.
Survivors include four sons, James (Jennifer) Krapf, Marshall, Jay Krapf, of Sparta, Joe Krapf, Mauston, and Jerry Krapf, Columbus; brother, Henry (Edy) Krapf, Seattle, Wash.; brother-in-law, Charles Gabrus, New York; grandchildren, Nicole Krapf, Marshall, and Lillian Krapf, Wisconsin Dells; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Alfred was preceded in death by his parents, John Jake and Agatha (Fink) Krapf; wife, Betty Krapf; sons, Jon Krapf and Jeffery Krapf; and sisters, Shirley Krapf and Olga Gabrus.
Memorials may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans (DAV).
