Barbara, wife of Joseph Auth, died Monday noon at the age of seventy-seven years, with dropsy and heart trouble, at the suburban home near Hesse Castle(sic), six miles south of the city. The deceased has lived in this county since 1834, and is very well known among the German residents. The following children survive her: Joseph, J. Henry, Anthony, Miss Frona Auth; Mrs. J Sack and Mrs. Charles Muldoon, of Fort Wayne. Mrs. B. Koppenrath, of Lafayette; Mrs. G. Short, of Wabasha, Minn.; Mrs. J.T. Arnold, of Chicago, and Mrs. Jacob Ackerman, of South Bend. The funeral will occur Thursday morning at 9 o'clock at the residence (Thurs., Jan. 26, 1893; Fort Wayne Weekly Gazette).
