Ludwig C. Camp, 87, passed away on April 6, 2011 at Dougherty Hospice House, Sioux Falls, SD.

Funeral Service will begin at 10:00 AM on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at George Boom Funeral Home, Sioux Falls.

Ludwig C. Camp was born in Tea, SD on April 29, 1923 to John and Hilke Camp.

Later in life, he moved to Rockford, Illinois where he was a machinist. He enlisted into the US Air Force on April 18, 1944. He served in the Southern Philippines Liberation Luzon during WWII. He was honorably discharged on April 27, 1946. He returned to Rockford as a machinist at Rockford Tool and Dye.

Ludwig married Gwendolyn Tharp on May 3rd 1947 at Salem Lutheran Church, Rockford.

They had three children; Anna, Monika, and John. In 1964 they moved to Worthing, SD to farm. He also worked at Sioux Steel and Laverne Trucking as a machinist. Ludwig retired in 1988.

Ludwig enjoyed fishing and camping with friends and family. He enjoyed making flies and fishing lures. He was also very skilled and creative and enjoyed making gadgets from recycled materials.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son John (Jan) Camp, Sioux Falls; two daughters, Anna Camp, Franklin, KY and Monika (Chuck) Forrette, Harrisburg, SD; seven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Ludwig is preceded in death by his wife Gwendolyn; parents John and Hilke Camp; brother Henry Camp; sister, Christine Klock.
