THE ORIGINAL PETER OESTERLING, 2 (1st generation in this genealogy book, 2nd child)

Peter Oesterling, 2, a half-brother of the original John Oesterling and a brother of Leonard Oesterling, was born at Grossbieberau, near Hesse Darmstadt, Germany on August 3, 1797.

He married Marie Elise Felger and they came to America in 1851. Their children were all born in Germany. John, his son, came to America in 1849 and settled in Wheeling, West Virginia where he established Central Glass Works of which he was president. In 1851 they landed in New York with their younger children to join the oldest son and daughter. They settled in Zelienople, Pennsylvania where Mr. Oesterling was active as a tailor. Here they kept in close touch with their family and with Mr. Oesterling's brother, Leonard, 3. Mr. Oesterling died December 3, 1876, at the age of 79, and his wife, Marie Elise, lived with her children during her widowhood until she died on January 10, 1884 at the age of 88 years.

They are buried in a cemetery in Zelienople, Pennsylvania. A complete line-up of this family cannot be given. The wherebouts of some are unknown so this makes the record incomplete.
