Mary Svoboda Mouchka,
83, a resident of Chatham Oaks
Care Center, formerly of Swisher,
died Wednesday, Aug. 5, 1998, in
Mercy Iowa City, following a sudden
illness. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday,
Brosh Chapel, by the Rev.
William Harnish. Burial: Hala
Cemetery, near Walford. Friends
may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday
at the chapel.

Survivors include two
daughters, Evelyn Kleinmeyer
and husband Robert of Amana and
Doris McCarty of Marshalltown;
a son, Ernest and wife Doris of
Swisher; three sisters, Jane Rotter
of Amana, Rosie Ceynar of Oxford
and Lillian Vanous of Iowa City;
six grandchildren; and eight great-
grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by
her parents, Wes and Sylvia Dlouhy
Svoboda; her husband, Ben;
two sisters; and two brothers.
Mary was born March 2, 1915,
near Walford. She married Ben
Mouchka on Dec. 27, 1937, in
Davenport. He died in 1972. Mrs.
Mouchka was a cook for the Colony
Inn, Amana, for 32 years, before
her retirement. She had
been a resident of Chatham Oaks
since 1996. A memorial fund has
been established.
