Services Held October 2 For Mrs. Catherine Rippen

Anna Catherine Rippen was born in Hanover, Germany, on March 26, 1865. At the tender age of four, she with her parents came to the United States, locating on a farm, 25 miles south of Lincoln, where she grew to womanhood.

In 1885 she was united in marriage to Detriech (sic) Rippen. Ten children were born to bless this happy union. Two of which died in infancy.

In 1894, a farm north of Campbell became her home. Here she lived until 1935, when she and Mr. Rippen moved into the home of their son, Ed. She made Campbell her home in 1941.

Mrs. Rippen lived through the good and the bad years which came to Nebraska. In them she always found the joy of living as a true child of God.

She was baptized in infancy and confirmed in the Christian faith in her youth. For more than 65 years she has been a good and faithful member of the United Presbyterian Church of Campbell.

Mrs. Rippen was a woman of deep and abiding faith. She loved the "kingdom of her Lord" and was active in her church, being a faithful servant of the Lord, in church worship, Sunday school, Missionary Society, the Ladies Aid, and in attendance at holy communion. She was an ardent Bible student and counted that day lost in which time was not given to private devotions and Bible study.

In 1943, Mr. Rippen died. Nine months ago, Mrs. Rippen moved to Samaritan Village in Hastings, and it was there in the friendly climate of that home, that she passed from this mortal existence on Monday morning, September 28, 1959, having attained the grand old age of 94 years, 6 months, and 2 days.

She leaves to mourn her departure, sons: Harry of Happy Camp, Calif., Ed of Campbell, Fred of Denver, Colo., Oscar and Lester of Gothenburg, Carl of Sacramento, Calif.; daughters. Anna (Mrs. Roy Walker) of Bellflower, Calif., Elsa (Mrs. Ray McCarthy) of Vallejo, Calif.: 24 grandchildren; 49 great grandchildren; a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Friday, October 2, in the United Presbyterian Church at Campbell. The Rev. J. M. Strong officiated. Music was by Sarah Watson, Maurice Hermanson, Fred and Ruby Brunke. Clara Lutkemeier was accompanist.

Pallbearers were Henry Lutkemeier, Ed Reiss. Wm. Brunke, Albert Grams, John Mattison, and Ben Rutt. Interment was in the Presbyterian Cemetery. Clark Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

"Sweetly Resting" Peace, which passeth understanding.
Joy, the world can never give.
Now in Jesus I am finding;
In His smile of love I live.
Now I'm resting, sweetly resting,
In the cleft once made for me;
Jesus, blessed Rock of Ages.
