MRS MATTIE HAYDEN KEENE DIED IN MARSHALL
FEBRUARY 11TH
Mrs Mattie Hayden Keene formerly of Cassapolis died in a hospital at Marshall Michigan on February 11th, at age 85 years. Funeral services were held at the Athens funeral home Saturday, and burial was in the cemetery at Athens.
Deceased was a daughter of Joseph Hayden and Hannah Lincoln Hayden and was the last of their children. She was born in Calvin Township in 1856 and her young womenhood was spent in Cassopolis and vicinity where her brothers, the late James G,George W, and William B. Hayden were all engaged in business. She was married in 1888 to Jacob Keene of Athens Michigan, and resided in that village until after his death in 1927,since which time she resided in Kalamazoo and Marshall.
She is survived by four children Hayden Keene of Battle Creek, Gladys wife of Lee Graham of Marshal,Mrs Norma Koontz of Kalamazoo, and Miss Glennie Keene of Battle Creek, and a stepson Mr Clyde Keene of Los Angeles California. Mrs Keene was a very worthy lady and had many friends in the vicinity.
A.K. Hayden, Mr and Mrs Joseph F. Hayden, Mrs Russell Joy and Mrs Wayne Clark went to Athens, Saturday to attend the funeral.
