Her father is Jan (John) Bos, who arrived on 19 April 1893 at the age of 17 years and as laborer with his parents Jan Bos and Grietje [Siekman] and five siblings on the SS Maasdam at New York. His last residence place was his birthplace Spijk, a country village in the utter northeastern part of the Netherlands, province Groningen, and their destination is Bozeman, the seat of Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana.
Her mother is Jantje van Dijken (Jennie Van Dyken), born in August 1880, Zuidwolde, mun. Bedum, prov. Groningen, NL, and daughter of laborer Lambertus van Dijken and Anje Wigboldus. This family with eight children arrived on 4 May 1893 on the SS Spaarndam at New York. Their destination is also Bozeman.

Her parents John Bos and Jennie Van Dyken married on 5 November 1901 in Manhatten, Gallatin County.

On 21 November 1934 Hannah Bos married at the age of 22 years in Manhattan, Gallatin County, in the southwestern part of Montana, to the three years older Peter W. Alberda, son of William Alberda and Clara Braaksma.
