Sue A. Thompson, 83, of Brainerd, passed away Sunday, Nov. 21, 2004, at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village in Brainerd. She was born Aug. 18, 1921, in Brainerd to Oscar and Lena (Bennett) Avelsgard. She graduated from the Brainerd High School in 1939 and had been the class secretary. Sue also attended the Brainerd Junior College. Sue married W. W. Thompson Nov. 23, 1946, at the United Methodist Church in Brainerd. She was employed by Mills Motors for a number of years. She later did bookkeeping for W.W. Thompson Concrete Products. Sue was a member of the Brainerd Young Business Women. She was Charter Member of the Park United Methodist Church and a Life Member of the Order of the Eastern Star Alpha Chapter 23.
Survivors include her husband, W.W.; son Todd (Roxanne) Thompson, of Brainerd; daughter Kay Meyer, of Grand Rapids, Mich.; grandchildren Brett and Sara Thompson, of Brainerd, Michael Koering, of Brainerd, and Alyssa and Ian Meyer, of Grand Rapids, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents and son-in-law, Len Meyer.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at the Park United Methodist Church with Pastor Rory Swenson officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Friends may call 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home and one hour prior to services at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the Park United Methodist Church or the order of Eastern Star Alpha Chapter 23. Arrangements are with the Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home.
